New songs from Abandon EP, Rotten To The Core Comp + more

Here are 5 of the 24 songs from the Abandon EP. I plan on releasing this on limited cd through Problems They Persist. Drums were recorded September of 2011, edited over the course of two years and vocals recorded September of 2013. More in a noisegrind vein not very typical of our other stuff. The manipulation and improvisational feel here is not something I plan on doing more of in the future, but the reckless nature of this release is indicative of what may appear on future recordings.

We submitted a song called Disconnect to the Action For Animals Comp 7inch. It was recorded during the Uniform session. 25 bands total including To The Point, Yacopsae, Rabid Pigs, Disleksick, and many more.

Last October, we recorded 10 songs on a tape deck for a cdep called Escape. Vocals are still to be recorded. Fans of the Wrench tape take note. Similar recording technique but more of a short fastcore feel as opposed to Wrench's more plodding hardcore punk.

The split with XBRAINIAX is no longer happening as they broke up officially several months ago. As I've mentioned before, the songs we recorded for that were submitted to the Gride split 10inch. Everything on our end has been sent off for that record and I will keep you updated on any news.

We're gearing up for 2014 which will be recording, recording, recording. The first session I plan on tackling will consist of songs for the To The Point split 7", God's America split tape, Gorgonized Dorks split cd, Unnerved 7" and Untitled tape. Unnerved (which may change titles to Opposition) is a 12 song set I mentioned over last year that consists of old unearthed riffs from several years ago fleshed out into songs. To be released on Rotten To The Core.

It's official that To Live A Lie will release our upcoming lp. As of now, I'm sticking with the title that I worked with before, Hired Gun. 2013 was quite a lyrical year for me which for once gave me excess songs and some of my favorites I have written music to. Typically I always have music first and add lyrics but the main goal for this lp is to go the other way around. Expect fastcore with some twists and turns.

There's a ton more going on but I will leave you with this for now. I'm hoping 2014 will be much more productive than 2013.

In other news, it looks like the 15 tracks recorded for the split 12" with XBRAINIAX will now be used for the split 10" with GRIDE. The 10 song set originally intended for the GRIDE split unfortunately didn't get recorded in time as GRIDE is done with their side and XBRAINIAX has not started theirs. So as it goes with schedules and time, we have to make do. Still ironing out details on the split 10" so no release date yet. The original 10 song set will be postponed until further notice. A couple of the songs have been tripping me up for years..

Planning on doing a major recording session hopefully in June of next month. I have 13 songs written for the TO THE POINT split 7" that will appeal to fans of UNIFORM and SELF INFLICTED split. I mentioned last update that I'd come across old riffs from '06 and had been reconstructing them into songs. Things have been going really well there and I've come to 12 songs that I'm planning on using for XBRAINIAX split Part Deux. Should appeal to fans of our IN DISGUST/DEAD RADICAL splits era. As for the GORGONIZED DORKS split, I mentioned Andrew writing a noisecore bass block, but looks like that plan will be scrapped and I'm planning on going with the original 11 songs that were to precede that. Expect very short songs, some with thrash metal leanings. I'm really excited about this. I'm hoping this will be released as a split cd. Still working on GOD'S AMERICA split tape songs. If all goes as originally planned, expect some quirky, early 80's style jams (of course through the skewed Sidetracked filter) In the meantime, pick up their excellent A389 EP, "Our Bones Will Bleach In The Sun". Hopefully we can record more during this session but we'll have to wait and see. 

Our good friend John Hoffman (AKA Snyder) of Weekend Nachos/Bad Teeth Records fame has invited us to contribute a track to his Wake Up Dead Volume II compilation. He wants a minute and a half song so expect a little something different from us for this one. 

I mentioned last update how half of the aborted HIRED GUN full length was to go to the TO THE POINT split, and I've been toying with the thought of using the other half for the upcoming EXTORTION split while also including a cover of FAILURE FACE'S angsty number "Broken Man". 

We will be playing Seattle's annual hardcore fest, RAINFEST, on Sunday May 26th. We will hopefully have new shirts. 

Aside from all this, there's still much, much more in the works. As usual, I will keep you all posted as it reaches reality.

What's coming up in 2013 (so far)

It's been way too long since last update so let's get right to it.

A split 7inch with California powerhouse TO THE POINT has been planned. This is a dream come true for me since these guys are basically the focus of the Lack of Interest camp right now and they dropped two of the best records of the year.

A split with noise legends GORGONIZED DORKS has been planned. Our side will be a strange culmination of influences I had around the time this first got brought up (about August or so) So expect some short thrash metal songs here and there among some other things. There's been talks of me loosening the reins a little bit and enlisting Andrew to write a noisecore bass block to close out our side.

Lastly, as for new split talk, will be with Australia's best band: EXTORTION. This was very recently spoken of and they are currently VERY busy working on other splits so don't expect either band to start working on this for another year.

Looks like the GAZ-66 INTRUSION split 7in is slated for release early this year on RSR. Our side of the XBRAINIAX split is done so it's a matter of them finishing their side. We finished our track for the To Live a Lie II comp. It's called Pressured Speech and is 15 seconds of totally blown out pv/fastcore. The drums were culled from the ABANDON E.P. session. I took a break from that EP for a good 6 months and revisited it a few weeks ago and I think it's finally ready for some vocals. Expect cut up drums and lots of feedback. For the freaks only.

Sounds like GRIDE will start recording for their side of the split in February so we're gonna try to follow suit. We've practiced about half of these songs so far. Still yet to start on the GOD'S AMERICA split tape as well but the music is pretty much written. Just need to get some lyrics (for this and everything else...)

I've mentioned in the past a full length I had roughly written tentatively titled HIRED GUN. I had this overwhelming feeling recently to dip into this pool of songs and use about half of them for the TO THE POINT split. The reason being I feel very strong about the songs and want to get them out there but also want the flow to be perfect. When I thought of them in a full length context, I was worried about there being a lull and I don't want that. So I'm planning on about 13 of the 25 going on the split. The remaining for the time being will still be planned for HIRED GUN and with added songs at a later date.

I also have dug up some old riff tapes recently from '05-'06 and have found some gems in there and am contemplating creating an EP out of that down the road.
